Rust development: fast, reliable software

Rust is our main language: we write our servers, our web systems and our native desktop and mobile apps in it. If you are looking for Rust developers for a new project or for rewriting an existing system, you are in the right place.

What is Rust good for?

  • high-traffic servers and APIs on few resources,
  • real-time systems: WebSocket, WebRTC, notifications,
  • native desktop and mobile apps from one codebase,
  • web systems with server-side rendering,
  • replacing old, slow or hard-to-maintain systems.

Why companies choose it

Rust compiles to machine code and has no garbage collector at runtime, so its speed is on the level of C and C++. Its strict type system and memory rules, however, catch at compile time the bugs that in other languages surface in production, at the worst possible moment.

For a company that means three things: smaller servers, fewer outages, and code that can still be changed safely years later.

What we have built in Rust

Magnus Aircraft's aircraft configurator, owner portal and magnusaircraft.com – which replaced a WordPress site – all run on Rust. So do Collibri, a workspace for 3D design teams, and the server and native clients of our own chat app, ChatLord. This page, too, is served by a Rust server.

  • Actix Web, Tera, SQLx and PostgreSQL on the server side,
  • WebSocket and WebRTC for real-time features,
  • egui for the native desktop and mobile interface.

Rewriting an existing system in Rust

You do not have to replace everything at once. Often we rewrite the most loaded or most error-prone part first, keeping existing data and URLs, while the rest keeps running unchanged. The risk of the switch stays small, and the benefit shows from the first step.

Frequently asked questions

Is it worth rewriting an existing system in Rust?

Not always. If the system works well and has no performance or maintenance problems, a rewrite rarely pays off. If it is slow, expensive to run or fails often, it does. We tell you honestly in the consultation.

Is development slower in Rust?

Getting started takes a little more thought, because the compiler is strict. In return there are fewer bugs to hunt down and fix later, so for a long-lived system the work moves faster overall.

Which tools do you use?

Actix Web, Tera, SQLx and PostgreSQL on the server, WebSocket and WebRTC for real time, egui for native interfaces. The task always decides the exact choice.
